This privacy policy applies to the Ideal Store website at idealstore.co.uk. It explains what personal information is collected when you use the website, contact the shop, send an enquiry or choose to allow analytics.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information is collected through this website, why it is used, who it may be shared with, how long it is kept and the rights you have over your information.
It mainly applies to website enquiries, contact form submissions, phone enquiries linked to website use, basic technical information collected when the website is visited, and website analytics data collected through Google Analytics 4 if you accept Analytics.
Information we may collect
Ideal Store may collect the following information when you choose to provide it:
- Your name.
- Your email address.
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide it.
- The subject and content of your enquiry.
- Any other information you choose to include in your message.
The website may also collect basic technical information automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited and the date and time of the visit. This information may be collected by the website hosting provider, security tools, analytics tools or server logs.
Contact form submissions
If you send an enquiry through the contact form, the information you submit is used only to read, manage and reply to your enquiry.
Contact form submissions are not used for marketing. They are not used to create customer accounts and they are not sold to third parties.
The form asks for your name, email address, optional phone number and message. This information is needed so the enquiry can be understood and replied to.
When you submit the form, the data you entered is sent over HTTPS to the Ideal Store website's own server. The server validates the submission and forwards it by email to the shop inbox. The server does not log your message content. It only keeps short anti-spam counters in a private directory on the same server for at most a few hours, and those counters store hashed identifiers only.
To protect the shop inbox from automated abuse, the contact form uses basic technical anti-spam checks that run entirely on the Ideal Store server. These checks may look at the time the form was loaded, the contents of hidden fields, the number of links in the message and short per-email rate limits. The checks do not send your data to any third party and do not involve any external tracking service.
How we use your information
Personal information may be used to:
- Reply to your enquiry.
- Check product availability or service information if you ask about it.
- Deal with a request, question or complaint.
- Keep a record of correspondence where needed.
- Maintain website security and reliability.
- Understand how the website is being used and how it can be improved.
Contact form information is not used to send marketing emails unless you have separately agreed to receive them through a clear opt-in.
Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics
This website uses Google Tag Manager (GTM) to load Google Analytics 4 (GA4). GTM is the only analytics tool in use; the GA4 measurement ID is not hard-coded into the website and there is no separate gtag.js loading on the page.
GTM is loaded only after the visitor has accepted Analytics through the Silktide Consent Manager. If Analytics is rejected, GTM and GA4 do not load on that visit.
Google Analytics helps understand how people use the website, such as which pages are visited, how visitors move around the site, what devices or browsers are used, and whether the website is working well. The information is used to understand and improve the website.
Google Analytics is used for website measurement and improvement. It is not used by Ideal Store to identify individual visitors by name.
Analytics is optional. The visitor can change their choice at any time using the cookie / settings icon shown on the site.
More information about cookies and analytics should also be provided in the Cookie Policy.
Consent on this website
This website uses the Silktide Consent Manager, which is hosted on the same domain, to store and manage the visitor's analytics choice.
Two consent types are available:
- Essential — required. Essential features are needed for the website to work properly, including remembering the visitor's cookie choice.
- Analytics — optional. If accepted, Google Analytics 4 is loaded through Google Tag Manager to help understand how the website is used.
No marketing, advertising or remarketing tags are loaded. No third-party advertising partners run scripts on this site.
Contact form analytics
If the visitor has accepted Analytics, the contact form JavaScript sends short, non-personal events to Google Tag Manager so we can see things like whether the form was completed or whether it failed. These events never include the visitor's name, email address, phone number or message text — only the form outcome and a short error label. If Analytics is rejected, no analytics events are sent from the form.
Lawful basis for using your information
The lawful basis will depend on why the information is being used.
For enquiries, the usual lawful basis is legitimate interests, because the information is needed to respond to your message and deal with your request.
Where information is needed to provide a requested service or take steps before providing a service, the lawful basis may be contract.
Where information must be kept to meet a legal obligation, the lawful basis may be legal obligation.
For Google Analytics and other non-essential analytics cookies or tags, the lawful basis is consent.
Who your information may be shared with
Personal information is not sold. It is not shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Information may be shared with:
- Website hosting providers that help operate the website.
- Email or IT service providers used to receive and manage enquiries.
- Security or spam-prevention services used to protect the website.
- Google, where Google Analytics is used after consent has been given.
- Professional advisers, if needed.
- Authorities or regulators, where required by law.
How long information is kept
Enquiry messages are kept only for as long as needed to respond and deal with any follow-up. Some messages may be kept for a reasonable period afterwards if needed for record keeping, service history, dispute handling or legal reasons.
Technical logs are usually kept for a limited period by the website hosting provider for security, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings configured in Google Analytics.
How information is protected
Reasonable steps are taken to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. This includes using reputable website, hosting, email and analytics providers where appropriate.
No website or email system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please do not send payment details or sensitive personal information through the contact form or general website enquiries.

Cookies and similar technologies
This website uses a small amount of essential storage or cookies where it needs them to make the site work and to remember your cookie choice.
When Analytics is accepted, Google Analytics cookies are used through Google Tag Manager to help understand how the website is used.
More detail about cookies, analytics and how to change your choice should be provided in the Cookie Policy.
